Episode VIII – The Last Jedi

So, a quick update, obviously without any spoilers given most sensible people won’t be seeing until later today (no excused beyond that!) Let’s start with saying it’s good.  How good is always a little subjective, but I’d say it’s in the ‘Good Range’ with The Force Awakens and Rogue One.  I’ll need to watch again at a more sociable hour, and in 2D before I give a final verdict, but at the minute I feel it’s not quite as good as those, but not by much.   (more…)

Another calendar related blog, this time spanning back much longer than Star Wars Lego. This is my 15th, yes, fifteenth, Kylie calendar and a Christmas present I always look forward to the opening!

Philips Fidelio – now doing what it should!

What is a Philips Fidelio I hear you ask?  Well, it’s an Airplay speaker I’ve had for about six years and for the most of that time it has gone completely unused, mainly because it was completely unusable!  After posting a review on the Philips website, I’ve now been sent a firmware updated, and it appears to be doing what it should, almost! Queensferry Crossing

You might have seen a previous blog with pictures of the iconic bridges crossing the Forth at Queensferry, but if you haven’t we live pretty close by and whilst we don’t use the bridges that often, we get to see them from time to time.  Over the past 18 months construction has been underway on a new bridge, which opened to traffic on Wednesday last week (30th August).  It was closed 2 days later to allow 50,000 people a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ to walk across it, and I was one of those lucky people! Fringe

Is there another city anywhere around the world which transforms so dramatically for a month each year?  I don’t think I’ve visited one, or at least not one that changes quite as much as Edinburgh does during August when the Fringe comes to town. (more…)
